5 Second Rule is a high-energy acoustic band based in Dallas. Their musical roots in Celtic, folk, classical, and rock music set the stage for joyous, eclectic performances of traditional, progressive, and original music.
Recent appearances include the Wildflower Arts & Music Festival, North Texas Irish Festival, Oklahoma ScotFest, State Fair of Texas, WRR Picnic in the Park, Kemah Boardwalk, and the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival.
Lineup includes Kat Glaze (fiddle), Ian Gill (guitar, mandolin), David Lovrien (whistle, sax, keyboard), Paul Dryer (mandolin, banjo, guitar, harmonica), and Rick Holt (bodhran, drums, percussion). 5-part vocals are a hallmark of their distinctive sound.
David Lovrien

David began playing Irish music with the band Gallus in 2004 and has been picking up tunes ever since. He also performs with the Grammy-nominated Dallas Winds and 1920’s jazz group The Singapore Slingers.

Kat is an accomplished violinist in high demand as a pit musician, recording artist, improvisationalist as well as a solo/stage performer throughout the DFW metroplex.
Rick Holt

Rick has a degree in Music Education from Troy University (AL) and has performed rock, jazz, blues, country & classical for over 40 years. Rick’s unique and diverse musical style includes the African djembe, Irish bodhrán, Latin cajón & other percussion instruments.
Paul Dryer
mandolin, banjo, harmonica
Over the past 40 years, Paul has played in jazz, bluegrass, rock and gospel bands and numerous vocal groups. Originally from Kentucky, Paul has lived in the Dallas area since the early 1960′s.
Ian Gill

Ian is Assistant Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Richardson (TX) and conducts the Richardson Community Chorale. A gifted vocalist in many styles, Ian also performs locally as a solo singer and instrumentalist.
